Scripture: Luke 2:8-9
“Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid” NKJV

Their is no place on earth like the Holy Land!

Five miles from Jerusalem, in the Holy Land, the roads descending to the east of Bethlehem lead through the Christian village of Beit Sahour, which includes the Shepherds’ Fields. These are the actual fields identified since ancient times with the shepherds who saw the Nativity Star. The fields where the Angels appeared to the shepherds with the Good News of Jesus Christ. The actual fields crossed over by the shepherds to visit the manger and the Baby Jesus.

Unmistakably, today’s fertile fields of Beit Sahour are where the Biblical birth of Jesus took place.

This area is also where the Hebrew matriarchs Ruth and Naomi gleaned the fields on their way to Bethlehem from Moab. (Ruth 2-4). Ruth married Boaz, and they became the parents of Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse. Jesse the father of King David. King David was born in Bethlehem.

Bethlehem became known as the “City of David” and it was predicted that the Messiah would be born there. (Micah 5:1-5a).

Today this area is a bustling metropolis of homes and businesses. Through the centuries major denominational churches have claimed authenticity of the fields, cave and crib site. The place where the shepherds visited King Jesus. Four separate sites come to mind but the actual location remains a mystery.

Rev. Awad was contacted by a Christian from Singapore, Reverend Doctor Timothy Tow, who the Lord gave a vision for a church in the Holy Land, where Jesus was born. A church in the Shepherds Field. Together Rev. Awad, his son Rev. Danny Awad and Dr. Tow worked against all odds to build an Evangelical church with the Largest sanctuary in the area. A place where during the Christmas season praises and worship to the King of Kings becomes a reality.

Prayer: Father thank you for documenting, in Your Bible, precisely all that took place with Jesus starting in the Shepherds Fields. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
