Scripture: Romans 5:5
“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” NKJV
Hello, My name is Pastor Ndimpiwae Qupuna with the Uniting Presbyterian Church in Centane, South Africa. I was born near Port Elizabeth the seventh child of seven. My dad was a teacher who became a tire builder. Mom was a domestic worker. Growing up we were a church family. My dad was an elder and mom was the organizer of everything the children did.
I was very sick when I was young. The doctors were challenged by my in ability to digest food properly. I had an operation in Port Elizabeth to help unblock my intestines. It didn’t work. They sent us to Cape Town for another operation. They sent me home as that also failed to unblock my intestines. A third operation could not solve the problem. The doctors could do no more.
The church got together as I was slowly getting more ill all the time. They prayed. Jesus healed me. At age 4, after all those surgeries I was finally on my way to good health. I didn’t realize how blessed I was by this healing until years later.
I was going through the church routine not paying much attention until I was 17 years old. I knew I had a whole life ahead of me and I took my future before the Lord. It was my first serious attempt to pray and ask Jesus for help. Where did I come from? What do I want to be? Then the Lord reveled to me what happened in the hospitals when I was four years old, was for his purposes. It became clear to me that I was set aside from death for a special reason.
Now it was up to me to find that special reason. My dad had 3 Bibles. I took one for my own (with his permission) and began reading it. The Holy Spirit taught me as I went through chapter by chapter, Book after Book.
I went to the University and took classes most students run from. Greek, Hebrew and Psychology. When I graduated I was ready to serve the Lord. I was in this church and worked my way up to Pastor. I’ve been here 15 years now and the Lord still talks to me.
At least once a month I set aside a time to talk with the Lord. No Bible, no books just the Lord and me. We discuss where I am, and He tells me where I’m going. These are heavy duty confrontations that exhaust me. When we are done I’m fully fatigued, I must sleep.
Then I awake refreshed and ready to do as instructed.
Through these powerful one on one times, with directions from Jesus, I have seen healings for some, energizing for others and lives transformed for others. But most of all these sessions bring forth hope! Hope for those who put their trust in the Lord.
Psalm 62:5-8 “My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us” NKJV
Psalm 46:1
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear” NKJV
“Psalm 31:24
Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the Lord” NKJV
My favorite part of Pastoring is teaching. Developing Christian Leaders for our future.
The Cross to me means salvation through faith that Jesus Christ lived, died and rose again from the grave. I did nothing, yet Jesus did all this for me. Come and understand the symbol of the Cross for all mankind.
As people walk by this Cross they will find HOPE. When they come to the Cross, doors will open and Jesus will lead them. They will find HOPE!
Prayer: Father thank you for hope which shines above our circumstances to see You. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
