Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk” NKJV
Hello, my name is Apostle Stefan Mutale. Everyone calls me Apostle Mutale. I was born in Hwange, Zimbabwe about 60 miles South of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, the fifth of six children. My dad was an electrician in mines. We were a church family growing up and dad was an elder. Going to church was mandatory in our family and the only reason I went was because if we didn’t go to church, we were severely punished.
In 1992 I was 17 years old and sitting alone in the empty church. I began singing and worshipping out loud. The louder I sang the more I worshipped. Then tears began streaming down my face. Then I heard Jesus speak to me. He said, “You are just a church goer. Being a Christian is different.” I answered with, “Lord I want to be a Christian, help me be.” He said, “Yes, I will.” I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior that day when I spoke out, “I choose to follow You Jesus.”
My life changed immediately, I started witnessing to everyone what Jesus had said. I started outreaches by walking up to 30 miles in all directions. I would set up a tent or go into a church or stand on a street corner. Wherever I was I began singing, worshipping and praising Jesus. When I did people came, and I ministered to them. That was in 1992 and 1993 and I’m still doing it today.
Marita and I were married in 2000. Today we have four children. One boy Twazunda 17 and 3 girls , Luyando 18, Kimberly 12 and Lusyomo 10.
In 2004 I was ministering in the bush when I fell ill. We were many hours away from hospital and no doctors were near. It became apparent to everyone that I was dying. I prayed for everyone to hear, “Jesus if you are taking my life do it after I’m finished ministering.” I was very ill. After ministering I was taken home.
The next day was Sunday and still ill I went to church. There I vomited up half a bucket of blood.
Monday I was taken to hospital for care and shared with everyone. “And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.” 1 Corinthians 2:1-6 NKJV
Tuesday I was in a coma. I was taken by ambulance to a better hospital in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, 275 miles away. I’m told I spoke in tongues most of the way while in the coma! I woke from the coma just one time to say, “I commit my spirit into your hands Lord.”
I was rushed from the ambulance into emergency with no pulse and pronounced dead. They called the mortuary to take me away. Before the mortician arrived my wife and the ladies of the church surrounded me and began praying. As they did, I regained consciousness and began singing, worshipping and praising Jesus, saying: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. The Lord has chastened me severely, but He has not given me over to death.” Psalm 118:17-18 NKJV
I was alive but could not walk. The doctors placed me in a wheel chair.
For 28 days I was in that wheel chair and could not get out. The prognosis was I would never walk again. My wife and women from the church surrounded me and prayed again. I began singing, worshipping and praising Jesus. As I did, I stepped out of the wheel chair and never returned to it.
Since then as an Apostle for the Lord I have planted seven churches. My vision is clear — to win souls for Christ. And that is what I train our people to do.
The Cross to me is a reminder that Christ died for my sins. Salvation for all comes through the Cross because Jesus loved us and died that He might rise again to give us eternal life.
This Cross planted tells everyone who passes by that here is life. Life in Jesus Christ unto salvation and life forever. Jesus is here right now!
Prayer: Father thank You for confounding the worldly wise with the message of love, hope and eternal life through Jesus Christ. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
