Scripture: Psalm 40:3
“He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many people will see this and worship him. Then they will trust the Lord” NCV (Bible Paraphrase)

Hello, my name is Doctor Dave Laposky. Everyone calls me Dave. I grew up in Sandstone, Minnesota until age 16, then we moved to Volga, South Dakota. There I graduated from high school and went on to college at South Dakota State University earning a degree in Zoology. Four years later I received my medical degree from the University of South Dakota. I’ve been in family medicine for more than 30 years.

My dad was a superintendent of schools and mom was a wonderful homemaker. I grew up in a very loving and Christ centered home and was in church every Sunday. I was given a Living Bible (Bible Paraphrase) as a teenager and fell in love with the scriptures as they came alive in my life. My grandma who lived with us and I would read the Bible together daily. I also remember in those early days taking my Bible with me outdoors and reading it while enjoying God’s wonderful creation.

God was real to me from the start but as I grew older I heard people talk about being born again and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. If there was more with the Lord I wanted it.

When I was 17 I attended an event at our church that had lay persons from all over the area come in and share their testimonies. We were challenged to receive Christ as Lord and Savior. I felt it was my time, so I did it and have been serving him ever since.

It was about that time I began using my musical gifts to lead worship. The Holy Spirit directed and began leading me on a worship journey that has spanned more than 50 years. I was an ok guitar picker but failed at many attempts to learn to play the piano for worship. One day I asked God to help me learn to play the piano to lead worship. He quickly answered, and in a 4 hour encounter with the Holy Spirit, I was given the gift to play the piano by ear.

To this day I am still leading worship and currently serve as worship director at Riverview Church in Pine River, Minnesota. My day job is filled with using my role as a physician to help the sick while I use my musical gifts to help people focus on the One who heals both body and soul. The Lord uses me in His ways, in His time and in His place. It is amazing to see what He does every day.

While in college I had some friends, who knew they had the perfect match for me. We were all in a Bible study together when I was introduced to Bev. It was love at first sight. Within 18 months we were married. Our journey as a family had begun. We finished our schooling and went on to have four children. The Lord has blessed us and at last count we have ten grandchildren with two more on the way.

The Cross has been instrumental in my life and helps me focus on Christ and reminds me daily of the tremendous cost He paid for my salvation.

This Cross planted today is a lasting reminder to anyone who drives by that Jesus Christ died, rose and lives. We pray they will be challenged to receive His offer of salvation.

My vision for the future is to be an instrument of God used to build His Kingdom wherever Christ chooses to send me.

My favorite Bible Verse is Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” How can it be any other?

What I like best about Ministry is I love being able, week after week, to use the gifts God has given me to help the body of Christ enter into worship and experience the Power and Majesty of Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Father thank you for how you choose and equip Your Kingdom workers for such a time as this. Fitting them together like a fine tuned piano that introduces your overflowing love, unfathomable compassion and everlasting life. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
