Hello, my name is Pastor Cont Moyo. Everyone calls my Pastor Moyo. I grew up in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe the third of seven children. Growing up we were not involved in things of the church. My dad died when I was eleven and mom took full responsibility keeping us together. From time to time mom took us to church but, it was not for me. This is my Cross testimony of how Jesus became real in my life and changed everything.

After my dad died my friends became everything. We hung out and spent all our time together. When I was sixteen my neighbor invited me to church. I didn’t understand it at the time, but this became my opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as Lord of my life. I heard the preacher talk about John 3:16. How Jesus died for my sins — he loved me so much that he did that. I accepted Him as Lord of my life. The reality of that much love just for me changed everything. Immediately I had focus in my life. I knew who I was in Christ and knew who loved me and where I was going. It was exhilarating. I was evangelizing everyone I met and didn’t even know it.

I finished high school and entered college. There I found Scripture Union. A group of fellow students who wanted to know Jesus better. I was hungry for scripture to apply to my self-developed evangelism. It was the perfect place for me. Soon I became the organizing secretary. Jesus was building his Kingdom in my heart, one scripture at a time. I graduated college and quickly entered a correspondence course for Bible training with United Apostolic Faith Church.

It was a challenging time that taught me how to take my evangelism to a whole new level by adding discipleship to my Jesus skills. I met my wife Emmaculate during this time and together the fire of the Holy Spirit burned for the Lord in our hearts. Today we have two children, our son Peniel, five years old and our daughter Pearl is nine months old.

Nine years ago, we joined United Apostolic Faith Church and today I’m one of the Pastors. Evangelism and Discipleship are my areas of development and the Lord has increased our numbers. The Lord has worked through me on many occasions, and headaches have been relieved, stomach problems terminated, spiritual transformations have taken place, employment seekers have found lucrative work and Jesus Christ is received as Lord.

I have stayed with Scripture Union and now I am a Chair person who works with youth all throughout the area. Our goal is to bring the scriptures alive in the life of college students.

My favorite Bible verse remains John 3:16 after all these years. It was my first love and today it is more relevant in my life than the day I first heard it. Jesus died for me. That says it all.

The Cross is a symbol of the love of Jesus. If it was not for the Cross, I would not be a Christian today. The Cross is all about Hope as a symbol of salvation. The blood of Jesus shed for me so I will be raised to meet Him in the Kingdom. The Cross is THE ESSENCE OF CHRISTIAN LIFE.
