Hello my name is Dieudone Nelson. I grew up in Saint Raphael, Haiti which is a short distance from Pignon, which is a five-hour drive into the mountains from Port au Prince. I was the seventh of twelve children. My dad was a builder and deacon in the church. Mom was taking care of all of us.

This is my Cross testimony of how the light of Jesus swallowed up the darkness in my life and set me free.

Every Sunday we were in church when I was growing up. I went to school through the 6th grade. Then I was attacked by Satan. Whenever I entered the school I could not see. Then I would leave and my sight came back. It caused great confusion in my life. No one understood what was happening to me.

Then a demon came over me and explained that if I worshiped Satan the blindness would go away, but that I could not go to school anymore. This training demon said he would teach me what I needed to know and I would earn much money.

Looking back, I sold my soul to the devil that day. And from then on, I had money, food and the things of this world. People would come to me with sickness, pain, illness and curses that were causing them difficult problems. They would give me money and the demon would authorize me to bring healing, relief or reverse any curse. It was a good life. In Haiti they called me Boco which in America you call Witch Doctor.

During my training, I was transported by the demon to an invisible place. It was like a highly polished glass or crystal palace. Here I was given the tools of a Boco and taught how to use them by the demons.

I met my future wife Nelda when I was 24. Today we have ten children. We raised our children under the shadow of Satan and the demons.

Then a missionary by the name of Mary Anderson moved in next door. My brother and I each own parcels of land next door to each other. We were both Bocos.

Mary became our neighbor and began a tree planting project. Mary began ministering by teaching farmers new planting techniques while sharing Jesus stories. Mission groups would come and stay next door with her. They would bother us all the time with their prayers to the Living God. They even stopped in to pray for us. Our Boco powers were not effective when these Christians came to visit. Their light of Jesus was so strong it swallowed up our darkness.

One of Mary’s groups stopped to pray for us. Thy were from the New Day Church in New Prague, Minnesota. The Pastor began to pray for me and Satan appeared to me trying to protect me. When Pastor Christopher laid his hand on me he asked the Holy Spirit to fill me. When he did the Holy Spirit over powered the demons within me. I was immediately set free. For the first time, I was free of all the oppression hidden within me all these years.

I gathered together all the Boco tools the demons had given me and with Pastor Christopher we burned them in the street. Fear gripped all the neighbors as we started the fire. They wanted their children far away so the smoke would not attach to them.

My brother refuses to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and continues to serve Satan. He fears Satan will kill him if he accepts Jesus. Fear is the greatest weapon of the demons paralyzing people from seeking the light of Jesus. This Cross planted today stands just across the property line to my Boco brothers house and voodoo temple where evil is supreme. The light of the Cross towers over all his evil.

I was saved 10 months ago. Immediately I was baptized and finally married the mother of my ten children after twenty years of living together. Now I regularly preach about being set free. Fifty-one people have come to know Jesus as Savior.

After accepting Jesus into my life, Satan tried to kill me. He attacked me while I was working in my garden, pinning my head down to the ground. I have scars from the encounter. As I screamed the name of Jesus, the demons left. Please keep me and my family in your prayers. The demons have tried to destroy the crops in my field that feed my family. Our local church is helping as they can.

These scars on my arms are from demons encouraging me to mutilate myself while worshiping Satan in my past.

The Cross planted today is the light of Jesus in the dark world we live. In this area, there are less than 30 churches. There more than 700 active Bocos under the influence of Satan and his demons.

The Cross speaks to what Jesus did for me when He died and rose from the dead for me. I thank Him for changing my life and for the promise to live with him for eternity.

My favorite Bible verse is James 4:4, “You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.” NLT (Bible Paraphrase)
